Speech-Language Pathologist & Language Stimulation Agent at home, in daycare or online

Our speech therapy and language stimulation services are available anywhere in the province of Quebec for ages 2 to 25. Speech therapy sessions can take place at your home, online or directly at your child’s daycare.

I am really pleased with the work the language stimulation agent does with my son. She always has good observations and doesn’t hesitate to tell me that she communicates with the speech therapist regularly when there are questions that she can’t answer. Ever since my son has been working with her, he has made tremendous progress. He is counting down the days until he sees her again!

Why should you consult a speech-language therapist?

Speech-language therapists are specialists in language and communication. The 3 most common reasons parents seek out a speech-language pathologist are:

  • The child needs a speech-language assessment to benefit from adaptive measures at his or her school (to determine if the child has oral or written language difficulties such as dyslexia).

  • The child has difficulty communicating or being understood when speaking.

  • Parents suspect that their child's language development is falling behind that of friends their age.

Why should you consult a language stimulation agent (LSA)?

Language stimulation agents (LSAs) are speech-language pathology students or special educators with expertise in language therapy. The 3 most common reasons parents use an LSA are:

  • The child is given an individualized program/intervention and must work on the objectives mentioned in it. This option allows him to increase the number of meetings while respecting the parents' budget.

  • The child is awaiting a speech therapy evaluation or follow-up.

  • The child has mild language delay.

Language Stimulation Agent, the perfect ally of any speech therapist!

It has been repeatedly shown that one of the keys to success when it comes to language development is the number and quality of language stimulation therapy. With more sessions booked, language stimulation agents have more opportunities to work on the language difficulties of the person they are helping, which often contributes to positive outcomes post-therapy.

In addition, the Speech-Language Pathologist will do occasional follow-ups to evaluate your child’s development and adjust futur sessions according to his/her needs if necessary.

*Language difficulties must be addressed quickly to minimize potential issues long term.

How does our speech therapy service work?

EVALUATION

Following your request, our speech therapist will call you within 24-48 hours to discuss your child’s situation and difficulties. He/She will be able to recommend whether it would be best to do a speech-language assessment, a speech-language therapy follow-up or a language stimulation follow-up. Since our services are all connected, it is also possible to combine them in order to implement a solution adapted to your child’s specific needs.

INTERVENTION

Once your child’s plan is complete, he or she will be able to start his or her sessions directly at your home, online or in his or her daycare environment. At Tutorax, our mission is to put an end to waiting lists! Therefore, depending on your area, your child will be able to start his or her appointments within 2 to 10 days.

FOLLOW-UP

Regular reports and follow-ups will be made so that you can easily follow your child’s progress.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Of course. Active follow-ups in speech therapy or having a speech intervention plan is strongly suggested. However, if you do not have these resources, we can discuss your child’s needs to make sure that an agent will be qualified to help.

The main distinction between speech-language pathology and language stimulation is the ability of speech-language pathologists to assess and issue an intervention plan. To put it simply, the role of the dentist is to diagnose and prescribe treatment to patients, while the role of dental hygienists is to implement what has been prescribed in the treatment plan by the treating dentist.

In other words, you can’t have one without the other! The Speech-Language Pathologist and the Speech-Language Pathologist are the ideal team to maximize your child’s development.

It has been repeatedly demonstrated that one of the keys to success when it comes to language development is the number and quality of language stimulation sessions. Adding more sessions to existing speech therapy services provides additional opportunities to work on language.

Since our services are offered in-home or in a daycare setting, this maximizes the opportunities for practice.

Our service applies in cases where the child is in receipt of an allowance for the integration of a handicapped child in daycare, previously filled out by his speech therapist.
