What are the qualifications to become a tutor?
We are looking for people who are passionate about education and motivated to help students succeed.
If you enjoy sharing your knowledge and supporting young learners in their studies, you already have a strong foundation to become a tutor!
Since our services are offered across the United States, both in-person and online, there are no restrictions related to where you live.
What matters most are your skills, your availability, and your ability to adapt to students’ academic needs.
We are looking for tutors who meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in college or university.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Organized, patient, and professional.
- Available in the late afternoon (after 3:00 p.m.) and/or on weekends for at least 3 hours per week.
- Strong knowledge of the subjects you wish to teach.
- Relevant experience working with youth (summer camps, babysitting, teaching, tutoring, or other similar roles).
What do I need to apply?

- Your most recent transcript or diploma.
- A list of the subjects and grade levels you wish to teach.

How much can I earn per hour?
Tutoring pay is not fixed—it varies depending on several factors. Your educational background, the grade levels you teach, and the type of contract (in-person or online) all influence the rate you can receive.What’s certain is that your skills and commitment will be recognized, and you’ll have the flexibility to choose the contracts that best match your profile and preferences.
Can I still become a tutor if I don't have teaching experience?
Absolutely! Teaching or tutoring experience is an asset, but it is not mandatory. What matters most is your passion for education, your desire to help students progress, and your ability to explain concepts clearly.
Are there any restrictions to becoming a tutor based on my place of residence?
Yes, a few conditions apply. To become a tutor, you must live in the United States and have completed your studies within the American school system (or an equivalent recognized program).
Since we support students in different states, tutors must be familiar with the curriculum and academic standards of the state where the student lives.
Whether you live in a large city or a smaller community, you can offer your services in-person in your area or online anywhere in the U.S., depending on your availability and preferences.
Where do the tutoring sessions take place?
Tutoring sessions can take place at the student’s home or online, anywhere in the United States. You have the flexibility to choose the contracts that best fit your schedule and preferences.
To optimize your availability, you can even combine both options—for example, by accepting in-person sessions in your local area as well as online sessions.
What are the responsibilities of a tutor?
Being a tutor is more than just explaining a subject—it’s about supporting a student in their learning journey, encouraging them, and helping them build confidence.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing homework help and/or preparing students for exams.
- Supporting students in catching up on schoolwork or moving ahead with enrichment.
- Motivating, guiding, and encouraging students to persevere.
- Communicating with parents to provide updates on progress.
- Planning and preparing sessions in a structured way, tailored to each student’s needs.
